Hope for the Tribe of Dan? (Part 1)
What happened to you, whose name means "judge"?
Why are you not mentioned in the Book of Revelation in chapter 7?
Is it because you did not settle the land assigned to you?
Joshua 19:40-48:
28 Therefore the king asked advice, made two calves of gold, and said to the people, “It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem. Here are your gods, O Israel, which brought you up from the land of Egypt!”
29 And he set up one in Bethel, and the other he put in Dan.
30 Now this thing became a sin, for the people went to worship before the one as far as Dan.
23 “Speak to Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, to all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the rest of the people, saying,
24 ‘Thus says the Lord: “You shall not go up nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel. Let every man return to his house, for this thing is from Me.”’” Therefore they obeyed the word of the Lord, and turned back, according to the word of the Lord.
It is good to know, that your falling away serves a greater purpose in the plans of God.

Why are you not mentioned in the Book of Revelation in chapter 7?
Is it because you did not settle the land assigned to you?
Joshua 19:40-48:
40 The seventh lot came out for the tribe of Dan according to its clans. 41 The territory of their inheritance included:
Zorah, Eshtaol, Ir Shemesh, 42 Shaalabbin, Aijalon, Ithlah, 43 Elon, Timnah, Ekron, 44 Eltekeh, Gibbethon, Baalath, 45 Jehud, Bene Berak, Gath Rimmon, 46 Me Jarkon and Rakkon, with the area facing Joppa.
47 (When the territory of the Danites was lost to them, they went up and attacked Leshem*, took it, put it to the sword and occupied it. They settled in Leshem* and named it Dan after their ancestor.)
48 These towns and their villages were the inheritance of the tribe of Dan, according to its clans.
Is it because you failed to support Deborah, who was the God appointed judge in her time?
Judges 5:12-18:
12 “Awake, awake, Deborah!
Awake, awake, utter a song!
Arise, Barak, and lead your captivity captive,
O son of Abinoam!
Awake, awake, utter a song!
Arise, Barak, and lead your captivity captive,
O son of Abinoam!
13 “Then He made them that remained to have dominion over the nobles;
The Lord came down for me against the mighty.
14 From Ephraim were those whose roots were in Amalek.
After you, Benjamin, with your peoples,
From Machir rulers came down,
And from Zebulun those who bear the recruiter’s staff.
15 And the princes of Issachar were with Deborah;
As Issachar, so was Barak
Sent into the valley under His feet (command);
Among the divisions of Reuben
There were great indecisions of heart.
16 Why did you sit among the sheepfolds,
To hear the pipings for the flocks?
The Lord came down for me against the mighty.

17 Gilead stayed beyond the Jordan,
And why did Dan remain on ships?[c]
Asher continued at the seashore,
And stayed by his inlets.
18 Zebulun is a people who jeopardized their lives to the point of death,
Naphtali also, on the heights of the battlefield.

This alone cannot be the reason, because you alone were not the only one guilty of this.
Instead you settled around Laish* (Judges 18) and named your city "Dan" - after yourselves, the northernmost city in Israel, which extended "from Dan even to Beersheba".
Are you not mentioned in Revelation, because Jeroboam chose your city as one of the places to establish the calf worship for the northern tribes?
1 Kings 12:27-30:
27 If these people go up to offer sacrifices in the house of the Lord
at Jerusalem, then the heart of this people will turn back to their
lord, Rehoboam king of Judah, and they will kill me and go back to
Rehoboam king of Judah.”28 Therefore the king asked advice, made two calves of gold, and said to the people, “It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem. Here are your gods, O Israel, which brought you up from the land of Egypt!”
29 And he set up one in Bethel, and the other he put in Dan.
30 Now this thing became a sin, for the people went to worship before the one as far as Dan.
But although the LORD was aware of this He spared the people of the northern tribes:
1 Kings 12:22-24:
22 But the word of God came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying, 23 “Speak to Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, to all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the rest of the people, saying,
24 ‘Thus says the Lord: “You shall not go up nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel. Let every man return to his house, for this thing is from Me.”’” Therefore they obeyed the word of the Lord, and turned back, according to the word of the Lord.
It is good to know, that your falling away serves a greater purpose in the plans of God.
